Jacuzzi OH Error Code: Overheat Protection

Exact scoped meaning

In Jacuzzi service documentation titled OH High Temperature Condition, the OH message means spa water is above acceptable limits. That entry states:

DO NOT ENTER THE HOT TUB WATER.

That same service entry states water temperature has reached 112°F (44°C) and the low speed pump has activated to circulate water through the hot tub to cool it down. Treat 112°F (44°C) as the threshold in that document, not as a universal Jacuzzi limit.

Jacuzzi’s consumer Owners Center summarizes OH as an overheat code and points owners toward cooling the spa and calling a technician if it does not clear.

Separately, the Jacuzzi Premium ProTech LED owner’s manual for the J-310–J-340 line documents an Overheat Condition (heater deactivated; do not enter; remove cover to speed cooling). Use that owner cooling guidance only for spas covered by that manual. That overheat section is related safety guidance; it does not by itself prove every Jacuzzi spa prints the letters OH.

This page is only for Jacuzzi documentation that uses OH that way, plus the ProTech LED overheat owner steps where they apply. It is separate from Sundance OH and from other brands’ overheat thresholds.

Scope warning

Not every Jacuzzi collection prints a plain OH message. The official 2025 J-300 owner’s manual, for example, documents Spa Overheat (Code 29) and Heater Overheat (Code 30) with DO NOT ENTER THE WATER, rather than a lone OH string. Use Code 29/30 only as a warning to confirm your manual. Do not merge those numeric-code instructions into this OH page.

Use this article when:

• your spa is a Jacuzzi, and
• your manual or official Jacuzzi support text lists OH as the overheat display, or you own a ProTech LED J-310–J-340 spa whose manual lists the Overheat Condition section above.

If your panel shows numeric overheat codes, dashes / Watchdog, or another overheat message, follow that entry in your manual. Do not assume one Jacuzzi collection’s mode or cooling steps apply to all Jacuzzi spas. What the code can indicate

OH (or the related Overheat Condition text in the ProTech LED manual) reports that the system believes the water is too hot. It is a safety state, not a confirmed failed heater, failed sensor, failed high-limit switch, failed relay, or failed board.

In the ProTech LED J-310–J-340 manual, nearby Summer Logic text explains how the circulation pump may stop when water is slightly above set temperature in hot weather. That is background for heat retention on those models, not a single diagnosis.

Do not conclude which part failed from the code alone.

Safe owner-level checks

These checks are not guaranteed fixes. Use only the steps that match your document.

1. Do not enter the water while an overheat message or Overheat Condition is active, as the cited Jacuzzi OH / overheat documentation requires.
2. Remove the spa cover to speed cooling when your owner manual’s overheat section says to. The ProTech LED Overheat Condition section includes cover removal and warns never to leave the spa uncovered when children are present. The Owners Center OH summary also points to removing the cover to cool. 3. Follow any mode or set-temperature steps printed for your display. The Owners Center OH checklist mentions Economy Mode and Summer Logic cancellation. Use those only if the same steps also appear in your model manual.
4. Keep the spa secured so others do not enter while it is too hot.
5. Contact an authorized Jacuzzi dealer if the condition persists after cooling, as those manuals direct.

Do not pack the spa with ice or add chemicals to force the temperature down. Those methods are not part of the cited Jacuzzi overheat entries.

What not to do

Do not enter the spa. Do not bypass a high-limit switch or GFCI. Do not open the control box. Do not measure sensor resistance. Do not apply Sundance or Gecko temperature thresholds to a Jacuzzi. Do not keep resetting the breaker to clear OH. Do not treat OH as proof of one failed part. Do not apply OH letter-code steps to a Jacuzzi collection that uses Code 29/30 or another overheat display.

When to stop and call a technician

Call an authorized Jacuzzi dealer or qualified technician if:

• overheat returns after cooling, or your manual’s owner steps do not clear it

How to confirm the code in the owner’s manual

1. Identify your Jacuzzi collection and model.
2. Open the error-message or overheat section of the matching owner’s manual.
3. Match the panel text to OH, an Overheat Condition heading, or the overheat code your book uses.
4. Note the temperature figures and DO NOT ENTER language printed for that entry only.
5. Follow only those owner steps. Leave meter tests and board work to qualified service.
